Coronado
Coronado is a small island community just across the bay from downtown, home to about 24,700 residents. Del Mar
About 20 miles north of downtown, Del Mar is one of the smallest communities on this list, with roughly 4,300 residents. It's known for the Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds, Seagrove Park, and its proximity to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, a quieter, more residential alternative to the busier coastal neighborhoods.
Encinitas
Encinitas has a surf-town character, with about 62,700 residents spread across a laid-back, family-friendly stretch of coast. Moonlight Beach, Swami's Beach, and the San Diego Botanic Garden anchor a downtown area known for its eclectic mix of shops and restaurants.
