Some long-distance routes out of San Diego come up more often than others. Knowing what each one generally involves can help you plan a more realistic timeline for your own move.
Up the Coast
Moves to Los Angeles and Orange County are short enough that they sometimes get handled more like an extended local move than a true long-haul, while a move to the Bay Area or Portland means a full day or more on the road, mostly along I-5.
Into the Desert Southwest
Phoenix and Las Vegas are both popular destinations for San Diego residents relocating for retirement or work, and both are reachable in well under a day's drive, which tends to mean a tighter, more predictable delivery window than a cross-country move.
Further North and East
Seattle and Salt Lake City both mean multiple days on the road, and a shipment headed to either one is more likely to travel alongside other customers' belongings on the same truck, which affects the delivery window more than the distance alone.
Across State Lines
Austin and Houston are common destinations for San Diego families relocating to Texas, and a move to either city typically means several days in transit given the distance involved.
